Beyond the pages of Shadows of Sobriety

There is more
to every story.

Writing Shadows of Sobriety helped me face my family’s history and begin to understand what I had carried forward. The Long Journey opens that conversation to others.

We’ll talk about rebuilding after addiction, finding a way through loss and change, repairing trust, and the people who help us move forward. My Christian faith is part of my story, and there is room here for different beliefs and honest questions.

Some guests lead organizations. Others lead through service, example, or caring for someone else. I want to understand what they’ve learned—and what their experiences might offer the rest of us.

Why The Long Journey—and Why Now

A long drive with my son Jarrett—and a willingness to listen—helped inspire this podcast.

In this opening episode, I share how my family’s experiences with addiction, my work on Shadows of Sobriety, and decades spent counseling leaders brought me to questions about how we love and lead. I introduce the conversations ahead and explain why my first guest will be Jarrett.

If someone comes to mind as you listen, share this episode with them. Follow the show to join the conversations ahead.
